Can You Really Learn Reiki Online?
What actually makes Reiki training work isn’t the format. It’s the structure.

It’s one of the most common questions people ask, and it usually comes with strong opinions on either side. But most of that debate misses the real point.
The truth is, there’s nothing in the structure or mechanics of Reiki that requires in-person training. That idea is based on a belief system, not how the energy actually works. Reiki isn’t taught by physical proximity. It’s transmitted through structure, intention, repetition, and a clear process.
And that’s where most online Reiki training goes wrong.
Most online offerings are little more than PDFs and videos. There’s no feedback. No structure. No connection to the teacher. No accountability. That’s not Reiki training, it’s just information delivery.
This is how I teach Reiki online. Every class is live. You’re part of a real group, learning in real time, with direct access to guidance and feedback. Each level builds on the last. The structure, the sequence, and the way we work together means you’re actually learning the system not just watching someone talk about it.
One of the main things people focus on is the attunement. They assume it has to be done in person. But that assumption doesn’t hold up when you look at the wider context. The idea of distant empowerments has been around in esoteric Buddhism for centuries, long before Reiki. This is the tradition Reiki emerged from. The real question isn’t can the attunement be done at a distance. It’s how it’s done, and whether it’s part of a well-structured, complete training.
So yes, you can absolutely learn Reiki online, but only when it’s done properly. And that’s the part no one seems to be talking about.
The latest article in the Knowledge Centre tackles the online versus in-person Reiki debate head-on. It strips away the noise and zeroes in on what truly matters when it comes to training, not where you are, but how the training is delivered.
