Energy Healing Techniques Beyond Reiki: What Most Practitioners Never Learn
When Reiki starts to feel too familiar, it’s not time to move on, it’s time to go deeper.

Back to the Floorboards and a Cassette Tape
I learned Chi Nadi, which is a part of the Buddho system, long before YouTube or Zoom were even a thing. Just me, a cassette tape from my teacher, Gordon Bell, a foot movement chart in my manual, and a lot of rewinding.
It was a clunky way to practice for sure. It didn’t always feel like I was getting it right. Actually, it was rare that I was getting it right. Mostly, I was getting it totally wrong.
But in the end, it worked. It was just about perseverance. I stuck with it long enough to let the energy start teaching me. I started to feel where the energy was moving and when it didn’t move the way it should because I’d got the sequence wrong or the foot movements wrong.
That’s the piece so many people miss. Energy work isn’t about collecting more techniques. It’s about persevering with what you have and taking it as deep as you can. Learn all there is to learn from the tools you have. It’s really all about getting out of the way and allowing something profound to open up.
If you’ve studied Reiki, you’ve probably got more tools in your toolbox than you even realise are there. Diving deep into the system, rather than heading off on yet another course for another certificate, is the way to go.
News & Insights
The big news this week, and one of the most important events for some years, in the evolving history of Reiki happened with the publication of ‘Reiki and the Benevolent Art of Healing: Tomita-Style Hands-On Therapy’ by Tomita Kaiji. Tomita studied Reiki back in the 1920s and his book came out in 1933, now translated into English for the first time and after many years of difficult translation work. If you’re interested in the history and mechanics of Reiki, this is a must read. My copy arrives tomorrow!
I’ve also been diving deep into the roots of Buddho recently, which I’m sure I’ve mentioned before. I’ve been tracing threads that connect it to Dzogchen, Mahamudra, and Shingon – disparate traditions that seem to be forming into a bigger picture. If you’ve studied Buddho with me or with another Jin Kei Do teacher, you will know how complex the practice is and how deep it goes. Tracing the threads of Buddho is no easy task, but it is coming together into what is shaping up to be either a new book, or maybe a short monograph for download somewhere. We’ll see! What is clear is that Buddho does have roots in esoteric Buddhism, though the lineage head of Reiki Jin Kei Do, Ranga Premaratna, has said that his teacher, the monk Seiji Takamori, did not follow a particular lineage.
But the study and practice of Buddho is not about adding complexity to your practice but more about stripping away the noise and returning to authenticity. Watch this space; there’s more coming.
This Week’s Blog
Energy Healing Techniques That Go Deeper Than Reiki: Ever feel like Reiki’s soothing touch just isn’t cutting it anymore? You’re not alone. Many practitioners hit a plateau and start looking for something new. But what if the next level isn’t out there, but hidden deeper inside the practice you already know?
In this week’s blog, I unpack how to tap into the richer, often-overlooked layers of Reiki that most practitioners never reach. This is where you dive deep into Buddho.
Upcoming Events
📍 Reiki 3A – 27th/28th June
📍 Buddho Level 2 – 4th/5th July
📍 Buddho Level 1 – 11th/12th July
If you’re interested in any of these classes, you can access them on my website. All require previous training in Reiki Jin Kei Do, so if you are new to Jin Kei Do, send me a message and we can look at ways forward that work for you.
All the best,
