The Power of Reiki Attunement: A Gift That Lasts a Lifetime

A few years ago, I was asked to visit a woman dying of cancer. Her family wanted to give her something that might help her feel calmer and pass away in peace. She’d been told by the doctor that she would be in a lot of pain when she died. I offered her a Reiki attunement, not as a cure, but as a way to help her feel more connected and supported. Frankly, a Reiki treatment, in this context, was a waste of time. She needed something a lot more powerful.

She accepted without hesitation and I placed my hands over her crown and let the energy flow. She sat quietly, hands on her chest, eyes closed. When we finished, she told me it felt like a burden had lifted.

She passed away a few days later. Her family told me she was at peace; there had been no pain, and she smiled as she passed away, utterly ready for that journey. That moment has stayed with me. It reminded me that a Reiki attunement isn't just a ceremony. It's a lasting shift in how we connect with ourselves and with life and death. Once you receive it, it stays with you. You can't lose it, and it permanently shifts the way you experience life.

News and Updates
I'm currently working on research into how Reiki attunements connect with the empowerments given in Shingon Buddhism. It's about understanding how these traditional empowerments work, how they shape the energy that gets passed on, and why a teacher's lineage matters. My feeling is that there is a very strong link between the Reiki attunements and Shingon empowerments. I'm putting this material together now and will share it as soon as it's ready. This research is giving me a clearer picture of what attunement really means and why it's so important.

I talk about why it's permanent, why you don't need to be re-attuned, and why many people experience a detox or emotional shift afterward.
