Hi everyone,

I hope you've had a good week.

Over the past few months, I've found myself thinking more and more about a question that has interested me for some time.

Why do we keep doing things we know aren't good for us?

Most of us know we should exercise more, stop eating junk food, have that difficult conversation, stop procrastinating, charge what we're worth or finally begin that project we've been talking about for years. Yet knowing what to do and actually doing it are often two totally different things.

For a long time, I believed that greater awareness was enough. mindfulness is a great tool for cultivating awareness, and awareness remains one of the most important foundations of personal development.

Awareness helps us recognise our patterns and the seemingly never-ending loops that we go through in our lives, but recognising a pattern or loop rarely stops us repeating it.

That's one of the reasons my work has gradually evolved towards The Abundant Self. Instead of focusing just on behaviour, I've become increasingly interested in the deeper psychological processes that quietly organise our thoughts, emotions and actions long before we consciously make a decision.

So, I’ve written an article on this exact topic for my Knowledge Centre.

New Knowledge Centre Article

Why Do I Know What I Need to Do but Still Don't Do It?

In this article, I explore why willpower so often fails, why insight alone rarely creates lasting change, and why our minds frequently continue running old protective strategies long after they've stopped serving us. This is something I’ve been looking at over the past two or three weeks in The Abundant Self with the current attendees.

If you've ever wondered why you keep finding yourself in the same situations despite genuinely wanting things to change, I think you'll find it an interesting read.

What One TAS Participant Said

I’ve also shared a short video from Elizabeth talking about her experience of The Abundant Self here:

She describes how the programme changed the way she reacts, helped her step back from old patterns, and supported a growing sense of courage, especially after the empowerment.

“I feel a massive sense of self-trust and self-belief building up since starting the TAS program. Like all the shattered pieces of myself are slowly binding together to complete a whole new me. A better, stronger, more mindful version of me.”
